These Long Stem Gears work in the Jeep Transfer Cases such as the NP231.
White speedo driven gear used for early Mechanical Cable type applications as well as New Process 231's and Dana 300 transfer cases.
Unless your Dana 300 transfer case has a metal screw-in housing, then the long shaft gear will not work.

You may need to switch driven gears after changing or replacing your tires and/or wheels.
Many tire makers build their tires differently, so a 35-inch tire from one company, compared to another, may vary as much as a full inch.
Causing a fluctuation in the accuracy of your speedometer.
To calculate which driven gear you need, gather your Drive Gear Tooth Count (13 is common for Jeep), your Rear End Ratio, and your Actual Tire Size, and head over to the Speedometer Driven Gear Calculator.
For your driven gear to read correctly your Jeep speedometer gear housing needs to be indexed properly.
The index mark always goes straight down (6 o'clock).
Match the mark you need, to the tooth count you are currently using.
NOTE: Long Shaft Driven Gears will only work with Mechanical Cable operated applications.
Short Shaft Driven Gears are needed for Electronic Sensor type applications.
If your application has an in-line speed sensor that will connect to the mechanical housing, it will take the long shaft gear, otherwise, all other speed sensors will use a short shaft.
